Montreux Jazz Festival, 1978
Richard Chapman and Eric Clapton, authors of" Guitar: Music, History, Players," describe de Paco de Lucía as a "titanic figure in the world of flamenco guitar."
De Lucía grew up in a Romani neighborhood in Algeciras, Spain. He was surrounded by the music of the neighborhood and his family, which included his father, flamenco guitarist Antonio Sánchez. His brothers are flamenco singer Pepe de Lucía and flamenco guitarist, Ramón de Algeciras.
De Lucía is one of the first flamenco guitarists who has also successfully crossed over into other genres, such as classical and jazz. He is a leading proponent of the Nuevo Flamenco style.
"Entre Dos Aguas" is one of de Lucía's best-known compositions.
