Andrés Segovia was the undisputed world master of classical guitar, elevating the instrument to a status it had never before enjoyed.

Practically all professional classical guitarists today are students of Segovia, or students of his students.

Segovia's first public performance was in Granada, Spain at the age of 16 in 1909. He continued touring and performing well into his 80s.
