Internationale Jazzwoche Burghausen, Germany, 2011
"Armando's Rhumba" first appeared on Corea's 2000 record "My Spanish Heart."
Here Corea and Gary Burton bring a different sound in a playful exchange on the vibraphone.
Chic Corea brought lots of Latin influence to the jazz world. For a while, he actual played with Latin music Mongo Santa Maria. His colleague and often times collaborator Herbie Hancock also played with Mongo to fill in when Chic left the band.
Mongo's version of Herbie's "Watermelon Man" was a chart topper in the early 60s and actually was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
